This project is being implimented in collaboration with five (5) We Effect partner unions namely Gusii Union, Kipkelion Union, Meru Central Coffee Cooperative Union, Machakos union and Baringo Agricultural Marketing Services Cooperative Society (MAMSCOS).

Target Audience:

Under this project, ADSOCK is targeting members of the five cooperative unions and their affiliate societies, the general public, multi-sectoral actors who are involved in SGBV survivor rescue and support in the communities, cultural, religious and administrative leaders, as well as other strategic actors who are involved in the prevention of SGBV and promotion of gender justice and child protection efforts in the five areas. In total, 380,000 individuals form the five project areas are targeted under this project.

Intended Outcome: 

This project seeks to increase influence of women and young people through active participation in leadership and decision making processes in institution (Cooperative Unions and their affiliate societies) and in communities where the institutions are domiciled. To this end, ADSOCK is working towards increased participation and representation of women and youth in leadership and decision making in these institutions using strategies which are aimed at encouraging partner institutions to embrace affirmative action for women and youth leadership.

To this end, ADSOCK is working closely with the five unions and their affiliate societies through organizing and conducting skills building training, awareness raising and sensitization forums, women and youth mentorship and coaching programmes, community engagement forums and multi-statekeholder dialogue forums in the communities on various thematic areas, among them leadership, decision making and economic sustainability, child protecdtion, gender justice, HIV/AIDS and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) as well as Human Rights (HR). All this is being done to challenge negative attitudes, norms and practices, enhance women’s and youth’s social, cultural –economic rights and promote their participation in leadership and in decision making process both not just in the cooperative unions, but also in families and in the society as a whole.
